Songs to Make Your Roomates Insane

Do you have roomates who listen to really annoying pop music on repeat? Are the dishes sitting dirty in the sink? Did you you hear your roomate having sex, again last night? Do your roomates have a very limited capacity to appreciate music that isn't exactly radio friendly?

Well, if you want to annoy the hell out of them, download these songs and give them a whir on something near max volume.

Perhaps the most annoying song ever produced by The Cure -- Carnage Visors: The Soundtrack from their Faith special edition disk. I've never seen the film that this song is a soundtrack for. I would like to see the film, but without the film this song is just, um, more than 27 minutes long. I like the Cure, lots, but if I am paying attention a non orchestral song that long is just too long. It is okay, nothing special, nothing too awful. Just long.

Jandek's I Passed by the Building actually really annoys me. There was a point where I liked it, then, the weird quality of the vocals started to rub against my nerves like a cheese grater. Enjoy.

Steven Stapleton is awesome and this post would not be complete without adding in a track by Nurse With Wound. Now, I own two Nurse albums, and I would like to get my mitts on more of them, but my roomates are total music bigots, so they can't appreciate Mourning Smile from the brilliant album, Drunk with the Old Man of the Mountains.

I like music that strays from the acceptable. I think it is important to keep our ears open to new sounds. I really like pop music as well as what is referred to as "outsider" music. For me, a good song is a good song. Sometimes I'm taken in by slick production values, but I can appreciate brilliance from outside of the box.

This is my first post. I hope I can get myself posting regularly on Wednesday, Friday and Monday. All these links will be dead in a week, so check out these songs while you can.

Buy Carnage Visors: The Soundtrack
Buy Mourning Smile
(Actually, I think you should buy the whole album)

I'm pretty sure you can only buy Jandek's stuff for the most part, direct. Good luck getting hold of it.
